This session was warm and fuzzy magic:)
Susan (mom) wanted a photographer to capture her family while they were all in the same place at the same time. They actually live in New Jersey (older son in college somewhere, daughter is somewhere else – I half listen to that stuff) but all had to come to Columbus for a family wedding. Lucky lucky lucky me:) So I got to take shots of a family that were a) happy to see each other b) that genuinely loved each other c) that wanted to have their pics taken d) that were FUNNY. It was seriously hard for me to concentrate.

All I know is that I better look this hip and smokin when I have grown children! From the skinny jeans to the boots to the cool blousey sweater top to the gloves – Susan was looking fine! I loved that.

In the middle of their kiss the kids started making gagging and throwing up noises – hilarious. A nice little trick I have used in sessions since.
Towards the end of the session we noticed a certain someone’s zipper was down. Poor horrified embarrassed young teen. Hands were freezing. Gloves were on. Glasses were off. One of those deeply buried stubborn zippers. Mom had to get in there and try to help through the laughter. Older brother has zero sympathy. One hot hilarious mess.
One of the last shots of the session. My favorite. And I was happy to see that Susan turned it into her profile pic on Facebook, because we’re friends now. So super sad that I won’t see them every year. Jeez I hope I hope I hope that they have to come to Columbus again one day. We will run into each others arms like the movies:) I love you Wynaleks!
Here is another reason why I will always remember this session. LIKE NEVER FORGET. Let me bullet point it for you. End of session. Parking garage. A parking garage I have used many times and never had to pay. Ever. Always free. Husband’s car. No purse. Left it in mine. But we had to switch car’s that morning. No parking garage attendant. Just me, in a car, only a camera, no cell phone, with no attendant, and at least 6 cars piled up behind me. I WAS STUCK. I had the throw up, poop my pants, cry feeling. My only choice was to ask the guy behind me for money. He wasn’t so nice either – but his wife was. It wasn’t 50 cents either. It was 4 dollars! He wanted to let me pay him back his wife refused, lol. HORRIFIED. Some of the most electrically charged 5 minutes of my life, heehee.
he announces he is done with his bath
he lures me with his sweet little 4 year old lispy raspy voice
i turn the corner to get him out and dry him off
and he mows me down – usually in the face
and I don’t want to even think about what is in that water
and every single day I forget he is going to do this (tired, and multitasking, and in general frazzled)
and every single day he gets me (to the point that I need to document it)
but today I was onto him:)
I love this kid.
(and the gold doorknob disagrees with every fiber of my being)
This is the session that my camera stopped working. Smack dab in the middle. Shutter broke. Worst nightmare come true. Ever. EVER.
All professionals should have a backup, right? I didn’t. I still can’t even wrap my head around being a real live photographer let alone go out and get a backup camera. Please! but guess what? I have a backup camera now. And a really really sweet new camera. Heehee. So half of this session is with my loved first child and the second half is with the new financed child. Had to reschedule. Sick to my stomach moment. Thinking about it now makes my hands sweat. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer mom though. I love Lori. We have history. It was a little miracle that even though I remained calm and embarrassed and apologetic – I was a panic stricken chicken flappin on the inside. So glad it was with her and not with a family with a dad that didn’t want to be there rolling his eyes asking his wife “where did you find her”? on the way home:)
Onto the session/sessions….
There are times when I have to pull out every joke and trick and dance and embarrassing thing I can think of to get a session going and to make kids comfortable. Then, there are times when I don’t. This would be one of those times. I seriously just ran after these guys and took hundreds of pictures. These 3 are seriously the definition of boy. Beautiful beautiful, I guess I should say handsome, boys. So incredibly full of life and laughter and kicks and punches and hugs and squeezes and CRAZY. Editing this session made me laugh so many times and call Brad over to come look.

Since I was a little girl, this is exactly how I imagined my boys would look. Exactly. Haa – I have a red head!

One of my favorite pics is on the right – I would poster size it. HUGE. One day I will get a shot of my kids like this. I’ve tried but with no success – it’s a hard one.

Ready for the out takes? My favorites ever. Sometimes I hesitate to show moms these because I don’t want them to feel bad, but in this situation it is mandatory. These will hopefully be the images that Lori grabs when it comes time to make the graduation poster board. Or the rehearsal dinner slideshow. Or the baby picture next to the Senior picture. I know I will remember these forever and they have so much more personality than the perfect smiling ones:)
This is what they did when I told them to jump on 3….

I have laughed and laughed and laughed at the one on the right…..
Ready? It is going to hard to top….
Susan (best friend) and I were in bars scanning the horizon for any cute boys taller than us….
Now we have this:)
And sadly this is the first (of course a little blurry) shot I think we have of all of them together. We always forget. We get a little preoccupied.
My kids LOVE Susan. LOVE going over to the Reimers. And most importantly they all love each other and get along splendidly and I’m not lying.
It literally seems like yesterday when we were walking around the malls together with Grayson and Jackson in strollers. Now they are in middle school texting each other.
