HI! I'M CATHY BLACKSTONE.

I am a Columbus based photographer and welcome to my blog.

I love to photograph babies in the tummy, babies out of the tummy, kids being good, kids being bad, kids with special needs, kids with fur, couples in love, families being themselves and seniors in between text messages :)

I have a fun and carefree style that I think you will be very comfortable with. Of course I love to take the classic picture where everyone is looking at the camera with a perfect smile but what I really love to catch is the real "in between" moments. The candid moments that you will cherish forever.

This is my photo blog where I will share favorite images from recent sessions and blab about my interests and family.

Time to try (again) and attempt to keep up with this blog. It is shocking to me how many people still find me and hire me from looking at it in it’s sad state. Bottom line – I just don’t have the time for it. Bums me out. Because in a perfect world I would have my favorite images from each session perfectly sized and collaged together with a clever well written story but it takes about an hour. An hour I can spend editing the images people are waiting patiently fo.r So from now on I am going to (attempt) to attach a favorite image from each session then link you back to Facebook if you want to see the rest.

WILDCATS 2012

So sad that I am just now posting these:( Some of these boys aren’t even on the team anymore but hopefully it is better late than never. I always look at it from the moms perspective and I know I would want these. It’s a part of their journey and I CAN’T BELIEVE how much some of them have changed in the last 6 months already. Crazy.

I didn’t take many pics last season. Sad. Just wasn’t feeling it. Photography definitely turned into a job last year. I am truly blessed, but it is bittersweet because it can interfere with personal pics. At every click I think of the time I will need to spend editing, lol. I couldn’t balance it at all. I will next year though because I realize how important they are when I start going through them 6 months later. Plus I absolutely LOVE sports photography. LOVE, love, love it.

Good man, good coach. It’s a thankless, time consuming and demanding job. He’s not mean. He’s not irrational. He’s not crazy. He doesn’t fly off the handle. He doesn’t have issues from his childhood that carry over into coaching, lol. He has only been positive with Jackson and Jackson wants to work for him and I love that:) untitled-15

Here is what I know – these people SHOW UP for their photo session (and this was a sunrise session). What some people don’t realize is that I can’t take pics of anything I don’t see. It’s that simple. If you bring it, you get it. This should be my new tagline. The Ransom’s bring it and always get it. Period. They laugh, they have fun, they are adorable. Some of my favorite images every year come from this family because they show me who they truly are. I am so lucky to be their photographer. Whenever they are in town (live in NYC now) they make room for me. LOVE that. Thrilled about that. Honored they call me:)

Here is another thing I know. I will never ever ever forget Trey asking me if I knew any Usher when I was singing nursery rhymes trying to get his attention. Hi.lar.i.ous.
