HI! I'M CATHY BLACKSTONE.

I am a Columbus based photographer and welcome to my blog.

I love to photograph babies in the tummy, babies out of the tummy, kids being good, kids being bad, kids with special needs, kids with fur, couples in love, families being themselves and seniors in between text messages :)

I have a fun and carefree style that I think you will be very comfortable with. Of course I love to take the classic picture where everyone is looking at the camera with a perfect smile but what I really love to catch is the real "in between" moments. The candid moments that you will cherish forever.

This is my photo blog where I will share favorite images from recent sessions and blab about my interests and family.

Thanks for visiting my site and taking a look. I really appreciate it.

When you ask him what his name is he says, “Dane Backdone” and it sounds so cute. He calls Daddy “DaddyO” and Jackson “JackBoy” and I will never tire of it. He knows almost every word to every song on the Mamma Mia soundtrack. He isn’t even CLOSE to being potty trained. He won’t eat any meat. He only sucks his thumb when sleeping. He loves his bear. He is particular about what he wears like Jackson was – UGH. He has wide cube block feet like Brynn. He has child prodigy savant genius skills with a golf club. He has to be told to be quiet ALL day. He is my only child to yell “STUPID” when things don’t go his way – never towards a person but towards things. (Example: today he couldn’t get the front door opened, “STUPID”!) Animals and bugs scare him. He begs and pleads for gum and Gatorade.

And even though he brings me to my knees everyday, and even though he (ahem) wasn’t quite planned I can’t imagine life without him. He is so expressive and hilarious and wonderful and darling and the list goes on and on.

We love you Dane man:)

ELLEN | columbus, ohio child photographer

I had the PLEASURE of taking this little cherubs one year portraits! I am not kidding when I say she was a doll. The most sweet natured child I have had yet. She just sat and smiled. It was so nice to just roll around in goose poop (lol) with her and not chase and sweat and bribe like I have to with older kids. Don’t get me wrong I’m all about chasing but this was a pleasant change of pace for me.

Meet little Miss Ellen …

img_0690-0689How cute is her closed mouth smile on the left? I could just take pictures of those cheeks all day – so I did:)

img_0802_0796Alissa (momma) asked if I would take some pictures with the crazy, skittish, unpredictable super protective family dog. Well of course I will! I tried to tell her I have mad Dog Whisperer skills but she would only let me get so close, like seriously, I was not allowed to move, lol, I took all of these laying silently on my belly. I could tell Brody loved me though. Next time I’m going to be rolling around with him:)

img_0840-0842Hello Cutey! Your cheeks and eyes are to die for!

img_0981_1-blogMy favorite:)

img_0950-0987Cute adorable baby expressions. She had a ton of them.

img_1015-1010Whenever I am with a mom that has only one child I try and go home and be a little more cautious and protective of my four. It lasts for about 5 minutes and then I go back to letting them play with knives. When I asked Alissa to put Ellen on the rocks she was apprehensive because she didn’t have anything to sit on top of. Isn’t that sweet? I have lost all sweet.

KATIE | columbus, ohio senior photography

I love my girl Jen McGuire for hooking me up with Katie and her mom. Jen is always looking out for me. Jen and Katie are neighbors in Cincinnati. Katie babysits her kiddos and helps Jen pack kits. if you are not a scrapbooker I am not even going to explain that – if you are – then you know what I’m talking about:)

I take the same approach with seniors right now as I do with families and kids and pooches. After your session you get a fully edited disc. I am not a package type of photographer. Katie’s mom liked that so I was hired:) And I am so so happy. They were the nicest people. I love my job. I love spending a couple of hours with people who are at first strangers and then at the end friends.

All I know is that after meeting Katie I felt like there is hope for my girls. Hope that they are going to turn out to be nice, sweet, natural and fun to be around. Katie is a complete package. i got to thinking after the session that if Katie goes to OSU she might go from being Jen’s sitter to mine! Haa!

Okay enough…here she is:)

img_0269-0239-blog1img_0235-0232-blogI love this set. I love how the sun is out in some and under in others. I love that she is laughing with her mom. I love that she is pushing her hair back because it was windy and I love that she jumped..

So then she tells me she has her Steelers jersey. I have to admit it threw me a little because black and yellow are scary and I didn’t know where I was going to take the pictures. So we head towards Uptown and on the way there I see the power lines and the lightbulb went off – no pun intended.

So the next two are especially for her daddy, heehee…
