There was a time that Ingrid and I saw each other once a week. We go way back. She had a baby or two – so did I – and we were heavy into scrapbooking. She would take every single one of my classes with two of her friends. Those were the days. She would always have to quietly answer her phone and pull out a stack of stapled papers because she would be in the middle of arranging flights for people flying privately while cutting, stitching and adhering stars and fabric and sequins in my classes. It entertained me:)
I’ll never forget the day that she told me she was moving back to Honduras to be closer to her family because she was pregnant with her 3rd BOY. It was by the American Crafts ribbon and mini brads section. She had a husband that was a pilot with a crazy schedule and she needed help. Plain and simple. I get that. I get picking up a family and moving from Columbus, Ohio back to Honduras to be closer to family. Smart. Respectable. I bet she doesn’t have to go to the dermatologist to have a mole removed with four children like I do:)
I was so excited to meet her sweet sweet boys and husband in real life. They come back to Columbus every 4th of July. It has become a tradition. I was so flattered that they asked me to take their family pictures. So much fun.

I have to show you this funny out take – cracked me up.
Benett, Ethan and Jensen.
LOVE their names. I completely expected them to look like Menudo, lol, with black hair. Imagine my surprise when I saw this! Jensen is practically blonde and they all have freckles. I love surprises.
Look at this sweetness. He love he mommy. The picture on the left was of him hijacking camera time while I was taking a picture of Ethan. So cute.
I forgot to ask Ingrid if tooth fairies travel to Honduras or if it is just a wacky American custom.

I love taking jumping pictures of siblings. The youngest is always always always on the one second jump start program OR the opposite. Make me laugh.
Here is your giant 20×28 canvas for your family room Miss Ingrid:) My favorite.
They have been together for 15 years:)
Thank you! It was so good to see you and catch up. Talk to you soon.
Somewhere along the way I damaged him. Saying he’s a momma’s boy is an understatement. He has never set foot into a grocery store play place. He wouldn’t do a sleep over for all the baseball cards in the world. He won’t stay at his grandma’s. He’s the only one that watches me leave all the way down the driveway (this is kindof cute now that he doesn’t cry). I have left him SCREAMING and CONVULSING at vacation bible schools and week long fun summer camps that I paid hundreds for. He has chased me through Magic Mountain parking lots after I left him at a birthday partys. We about came to blows (just kidding) two years ago (seared in my memory forever) because he REFUSED to go to Fort Rapids with his best friend. Seriously. I would expect this behaviour out of a child that was nursed until they were five. I would expect this from a child that was raised off the grid in Montana. But this is my child. A child produced by two extremely independent people. Go figure.
Let me get to my point. I signed my kids up for a drop off at a park program this summer. Jackson so far has refused but today the stars were aligned and…..
he stayed. Let me repeat myself. He stayed.
I have been humming Kumbaya and Do Lord ever since.
best friends
Rashmi has had me document every 3 months of Ishaan’s first year starting I think when he was 6 weeks old. I can’t imagine being organized enough to do this. If I did this for my Dane I would be calling the photographer for his 6 month pictures when he was 9 months old. Not Rashmi. My girl has got it together.
To be honest this is the first time a mom has had me do this. All I can say is I get it now. I had to see the pics side by side and be a participant to fully understand how meaningful and important it is to document the first year of a child’s life.
Let me show you what I mean….

Rashmi wanted me to come back to the house and take pics in the backyard where they spend most of their time. She also requested that I get some of just her and Ishaan – she is officially over Guru (husband) hogging me looking all cute. Guru told me he was going to be shy. Made me laugh. One of those had to be there moments.
So here is what I got…

The picture on the right is one of my favorites – ever.

I don’t have a single picture of me looking this cute with any of my children. In fact I am really mad at my husband right now.
Last two. My “artsy” ones, always my favorites from the session – not meant for the grandparents because they will wonder where the rest of his head is:)

Thank you Rashmi and Guru. It was seriously an honor to be a part of his first year.
