HI! I'M CATHY BLACKSTONE.

I am a Columbus based photographer and welcome to my blog.

I love to photograph babies in the tummy, babies out of the tummy, kids being good, kids being bad, kids with special needs, kids with fur, couples in love, families being themselves and seniors in between text messages :)

I have a fun and carefree style that I think you will be very comfortable with. Of course I love to take the classic picture where everyone is looking at the camera with a perfect smile but what I really love to catch is the real "in between" moments. The candid moments that you will cherish forever.

This is my photo blog where I will share favorite images from recent sessions and blab about my interests and family.

Thanks for visiting my site and taking a look. I really appreciate it.

SWISHER GIRLS | columbus, ohio child photographer

So excited to finally capture these girls on a perfectly beautiful evening. The first time I took their family shots it was hot. Like crazy hot. Like I think the hottest session EVER and it was even a morning session. The second time I took their pics it was freezing and Isla was a fussy snotty red-nosed mess. I felt so bad. Come to find out she had a double ear infection:( So this time around it was perfect. Finally!

Keelin loves me and works it for the camera…

Isla doesn’t love me and makes me work it:) Mommy even had to disappear. Eventually she warmed up because no one can make a fool of herself more than yours truly.

How funny is this set?untitled-2

Might be one of the better shots I have ever taken EVER EVER EVER, lol. Umm, not really kidding.img_6030blog

The image that no one has to love but me:)img_6165bw-blog

July 19, 2011 - 5:38 pm Laura Swisher - I love that last picture - it's already hanging on the wall! And the three of Isla eating the dandelion capture her perfectly. I love them all.

NICHOLAS GIRLS | columbus, ohio family photographer

Love the energy these girls have. From the moment we meet they are jumping and spinning and running and laughing and chit chatting and dancing.

I was so lucky to get these initial shots before Maddie realized there were lots of ants crawling around. Maddie isn’t a fan of anything that has 6 legs:)untitled-13

Note to self (and any photographer that reads this blog): I have to remember to always get the shot over the kid jumping up into my lens. It always always always turns out. I’ll forget to do it for 6 month stretches. Hopefully if I write it down I will remember now.untitled-32

A little ring around the rosy action. Maddie wouldn’t sit, lol. untitled-23

img_8082bloguntitled-5Thank you frogs for communicating very loudly that you wanted a partner to mate with:) Makes for good images. The girls thought you were hilarious.untitled-6Even though it was supposed to be just a kid session I had to get this shot of dad in. img_8006bwblogSo lucky to watch this family grow. Love being FB friends with their mamma Jessica. She is so kind and such a supporter of mine. Keeps me going. Love building this relationship. Muuuah!

June 22, 2011 - 10:34 am Jessica Nicholas - You are so sweet!! I love this! We always have so much fun with you. Cathy didn't mention that a sandal got sucked into some muck and she ended up washing it in a pond for us. She always seems prepared for any and every situation, which makes for awesome pics. Can't wait to do this again in the fall! Muuah right back to ya'. :-)

BEST.DAD.EVER.

Lucky to have my camera with me while we waited to eat at his favorite breakfast place on Father’sDay.

After we ate Mr. Blackstone got to pick out a rose bush (he likes them, I don’t). It’s already planted.

Ellie is with family friends on a trip to West Virginia. Weird not having her around. We feel like a limb is missing:(

And just because it’s hilarious….

Brynn thought a hillside was her stage of course:)img_3583

And this one finally got his hair cut and I want to squeeze and hug and kiss him all day. Not going over well.img_3572

July 25, 2011 - 3:29 pm elisa - Brad is so stinkin cute. Miss you guys- guess you are doing Kings Island without us this year.

June 23, 2011 - 7:39 pm Leslie Bennett - Oh my word...the pic of Brynn on the hill. The look on Dane's face, Jackson looking cool and uninterested, and that little girl looks dangerous! I think you might need to lock her in her room until she's 25 :) you are in trouble, girl!

June 19, 2011 - 1:40 pm Moom - Brad reminds me of his Grandpa Pickworth and his rose bushes. Great pictures and we really enjoyed them.

GETTING EASIER

We’ve earned this. It’s been 12 years of not so easy.

I think in the last 3 months we have spontaneously hung out and seen the Reimer’s more than in the last 6 years. Not kidding.

We are finally there and it feels really good. Susan fills my cup:) She’s that shiny person that walks into the room.

What is even better is that our kids love each other and get along splendidly. No fussing, no crying, no drama – they just blend – and it’s nice. Really really nice.

These 4 had a blast jumping away.

Then we ended the quick night with smores. Perfect. We went crazy and tried them with Reece’s cups. Delish.
