So Jackson (12 year old son) loves baseball. LOVES. The only sport he has ever been interested in. Loves the uniform, loves the Indians, loves the cards, loves the stats, loves the pace…
He has a nemesis though. Batting. 8 out of the 10 times he’s shed a tear these past two years has been over batting. It’s really sad actually. When we found out he needed glasses Brad and I practically wept after a phenomenal chest butt. But the glasses didn’t help. Silly for us to think it was a vision problem, not a mental problem. So we decided to hook him up with some batting lessons because you get to the point where if your kid loves something and tries really hard you will do just about anything to help. And quite honestly when you are a 12 year old boy your entire self worth is based on how you bat. And if you are one of the last in the lineup you might as well be standing up there wearing a hot pink bikini with purple polka dots and a dunce cap because you feel like a worthless fool. Probably not that dramatic but you get the point.
So enter Randy. The batting coach. He stands like this and always has his hat “perched” on his head. I grew to love that about him. It’s funny what you grow to love about people. If I had a picture of the front of him you could see his sparkly blue eyes.
So Randy’s wife breeds bulldogs and needed some images for her website. Yes! I was thrilled THRILLED to help out because in Randy’s own words…”he ain’t cheap”.

Then there is Christine – Randy’s wife – who I just ADORE. Quite honestly the last thing on Earth (like 2010’s biggest surprise) I expected was a soft spoken, peaceful, loving, adorable, beautiful wife rolling her eyes behind Randy. Randy can be harsh. Randy can be loud. Randy doesn’t sugar coat. But you put the two of them together and Randy is mush and I loved to be a witness to it. They make a great team.
So Christine got her images and sold her beautiful puppies. Jackson gets some more batting lessons. And Randy saved some money on photography. Win. Win. Win.

I literally had just had a grueling root canal. This one was particularly bad. I HATE root canals.
The phone rang. I have no idea why I answered it. When I answered it I realized I could barely talk because I was still numb – so then I felt like I had to explain that I just had a root canal so that the person – Mary – Olivia’s mom – would know that I wasn’t intoxicated at 11am, lol. Then she laughed and told me she was a dentist so she understood. It was funny.
Can you believe she is a dentist? Doesn’t look like any dentist I’ve had!
She called because she had yet to have pics of her 4 month old taken. Probably because she also has a set of 5 year old twins that keep her a little busy – which by the way I looked at a pic of them and called them boys – they’re girls – awesome.
This session was fun, fun, fun. It was just me, mom, a well lit house and I got to focus on one adorable little girl. 
Two years ago this month I took these super fun shots of Micah and Sarah madly in love about to be married….
I loved this night because for the first time I really felt like a photographer and we explored and had fun and laughed a lot and the light was PERFECT – I seriously sometimes still think about the light that night. Weird I know:)
Well.
Then.
This happened…
And I have to say Sarah was a hot mess, lol. She did not want her picture taken, she felt awful, ugly, over it, gigantic, blah blah – but I MADE her. Drove out to her work during her lunch in the full sun, with my four year old, parked illegally, got yelled at by a security guard and MADE her. Because little does she know what awful and ugly is(I actually wonder if she ever will). But I am wise now. I have wisdom. I know the big picture.
THREE DAYS LATER this happened….

Love this shot. I loved that feeling of being so smitten by your first child. Changes you completely. You can practically make yourself sick over how much you love them. Sarah is so there. SO there. And it is so refreshing to be around.
This is why I love what I do. To look at these images and document a couple becoming a family is just awesome. Can’t wait to see what’s next 🙂
didn’t want me to walk through the lunchroom yesterday in front of his friends (had to talk to the lunchroom lady to figure out who to write the check out to). Hmf. Kinda hurt. Kinda made me laugh. Kinda made me want to punch him. Kinda made me stand there and think of ways I could really really embarrass him on the way out. I spared him because I knew he would choose to go hungry instead of call me the next time he needed money….
