- why he’s not invited to go to NYC with us next week
- why Brad told me he wouldn’t go with us if I decided to bring him (I was having a weak moment)
- why within 5 minutes of telling the big kids we were going they asked if Dane was
- why I feel really really bad for his babysitters. REALLY bad.

The Ingram family. Love them. We met through baseball – and those of you with kids involved in sports know that you learn a lot about people A LOT when you play on the same team. Jackson and Evan have been together for 3 seasons now and Brent (dad) has coached for 2. Could not ask for better coaching. Wouldn’t be on a travel team driving all over creation with 3 kids (one of which is named DANE) if it weren’t for Jackson’s coaches. No tempers. No screaming. Everything is positive. Lots of work. Love it. Period.
So Jen and I started initially chit chatting because she studied photography. Like I think she has a degree with the word photography on it. TRAINED. Imagine that. Scares me. But she has become one of my biggest fans and blabbers and commenters. I love commenters. Comment. Please.
So when it came time to plan a session Jen picked the best spot ever. It is the farm that her mom grew up on. How cool is that? I know it’s all about the showing the relationships in photography blah blah blah – but sometimes the location adds so much, especially when it’s personal. So this property/farm is called Thorn-Mar. It has 5ish super charming little buildings and barns anchored by this big Gone with the Wind farmhouse. Glenn who was married to Jen’s grandma still lives there. It was magic:)

Here is one of the barns…doesn’t it look fake? It looks like part of a miniature movie set to me. Needs a plastic horse on it, lol.

Evan. He cute. Super cute. Super fine. He is a Kennedy to me with his tussled hair and big smile. Can’t imagine the hearts he is going to squash in high school. This needs to be big somewhere.
Below are Danielle and Casey. Adorable. Casey and Dane always have about 15 layers of food around their mouths at baseball games and Danielle always has her head in a book.

And it all began with these two. Together since high school. One of my favorite couple shots – there is something different about it. Big in your room please.

The property went as far as you could see. There was a hill way off that I wanted to walk out to but it was a little far. So glad we did. Hills that have nothing behind them to clutter up my shots make me so happy. The light was perfect Brent:)
Thank you Ingrams:) Thank you for worrying so much ahead of time (Jen is type A) and planning and caring and then rolling and jumping and swinging and smooching. I can’t wait for you to see the rest!
Okay. Not gonna lie. I have started, stopped, deleted, started, stopped, rethought, deleted this post over and over.
For the first time in my life my ability to control my emotions in a very emotional situation (something I always thought was a flaw and still do) came in handy during this session. I was contacted by a friend to see if I would be willing to capture a family who are living in every parent’s worst nightmare. Matthew, their darling little red-headed boy is not going to be on this earth as long as he should be. They have been on a ride for 3 years now when his first tumor was diagnosed. At times things were very promising and then they would be back to square one. Nothing I could ever imagine. Nothing I could ever make sense of. I do know my time spent with them is something I will always remember and appreciate.
This is Matthew. He has the most adorable little sideways smucker glance. He didn’t love me, lol. I pretty much had to stay out of his bubble, but he couldn’t help but like my animal noises and dance moves.

The family…..dad is a fireman for Delaware county. I told him he needs to get some of his buddies together for a calendar:)

Little brother Darren. If Matthew wasn’t being held, Darren needed to be – and they wanted to be moving if being held. It reminded me of when Jackson (my 11 year old) was a baby and if we held him he would yell, “WALKING”! so that we would move. Eyeyiyi.

I love how Matthew is looking at Jennifer (above right) while she is busting out Choo Choo Soul ABC. Hilarious. I think even Jeremie was singing along.

If you would like to follow Jennifer’s (mom) journal on caring bridge you can copy and paste this link because I can’t figure out how to link on this blog dangit!……http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/matthewbarr
Barr Family…thank you. I can’t imagine how many people you have given perspective and changed for the better because of your presence in their lives. And if you don’t call me year after year to take your family photos I am going to be MAD.
I know Kristin through my bf Susan. Susan gets her hair done at Kristin’s salon and has only said the nicest nicest NICEST things about her. Kristin owns the Salon at Polaris. They met because their boys play together. Kristin has twin boys. Twin boys. I often think of mothers with twin boys. I don’t know how they come out okay on the other side. If I had 2 Jackson’s or Dane’s I would need lotsolotsotherapy. Even tonight when we were playing Uno I couldn’t handle Jackson’s constant stupid ridiculous noises and sound effects. We told him 5 or 6 times to chill. But, boys don’t listen. They wait until your voice is raised and your blood is boiling, and then they’re like what? I can’t imagine how twin boys must bounce off each other. So Kristin and John – I seriously have the highest respect for you 🙂
But back to the session. When they all piled out of their car I wanted to kiss Kristin. She never asked me what they should wear because this family has their own style, with their own look, with the coolest shoes and they brought it and I loved it.

These two have been together since high school??? I think I have that right – anyway a looong time:) Love that.
Their 3 fabulous children Gregory, Alexis and Jonathan….I think it is so cool when twins look nothing alike and this would be a good example:)

I love it when kids are their own person. Alexis is without a doubt. I’m not good at noticing details when I shoot but as I’m editing I noticed her silver sparkly eyeliner. Simple yet different. Her boots too. Now they scared me at first because I am boring and traditional. But. I have been obsessed with the new Gap campaign. I have watched the commercial online over and over and over. Love it. After the 10th time I watched it I noticed that all the girls in the commercial have the same boot on as Alexis. So she has got it going ON.
Poor Jonathan. He does not love the camera, lol. He made the session so funny because he would look everywhere but at me, and he didn’t exactly know how to stand and then everyone starting watching him to see what he would do which added more pressure… To me it was very funny. He held his ground though. We had to resort to making him say the names of inappropriate body pieces and parts to get him to crack a smile:) Right after I took this shot he told me he couldn’t wait to get home to “take off his size 20 shirt and mess up his hair”.
Gregory. Adorable. Sweet. Has a great look about him. Comfy in front of a camera. LOVE his crooked smile. They might not be now but girls are going to be all over that in high school and college, lol.
I would love to thank the man that designed this little city building. Perfect gray door with chipping paint. Symmetrical. Glass block. Chicken wire encased in the glass. This family in particular looked really really amazing in front of it:)

I love it when I catch moms looking over at their kids. I really enjoy watching parents being parents. It was interesting to watch Kristin and Michael talk to their kids. It was like they were talking to their friends yet they were clearly the parents. Loved the way Kristin talked to Alexis.

the end.
Thank you Larkin family:)
